Petrasco successfully completed a complex cross-border transportation project, moving an out-of-gauge industrial reel from Bahrain to Sharjah. Despite permit delays, customs queries, security disruptions and additional inspection requirements, the cargo was delivered safely, compliantly and without damage.
Petrasco managed the transport of a 4.8m x 4.8m x 4.8m industrial reel weighing 18,500kg from ASRY Yard, Bahrain to the client's facility in Sharjah, UAE. The project included specialist transport arrangements, permit and customs coordination, security compliance, escort management and final delivery.
The movement required multiple permits and approvals across Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, all of which needed to align within the same operating window. Regional security disruptions caused repeated delays, while customs authorities challenged cargo dimensions and Saudi regulations required additional security screening.
Petrasco engaged a local Public Relations Officer to support regulatory approvals and coordinated closely with authorities to align permits and approvals. Technical documentation was provided to customs to verify cargo dimensions, while an alternative inspection process was arranged in Saudi Arabia, enabling the shipment to be escorted to Dammam Port for X-ray screening and clearance.
Following several delayed mobilisation attempts, all approvals were secured, allowing the cargo to move from Bahrain into Saudi Arabia. After completing customs and security inspections in Dammam, the shipment continued via the Batha and SILA borders to the UAE. Throughout the project, Petrasco maintained close coordination with transporters, authorities and local representatives to keep the movement on track.
The industrial reel was delivered safely to the client's facility in Sharjah without damage or compliance issues. The project demonstrated Petrasco's capability to manage complex cross-border out-of-gauge movements in challenging regulatory and operational environments.
